ARD INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION FOR STRING QUARTETS
The ARD International Music Competition is the largest international classical music competition in Germany. It is held once a year in Munich. The competition is open to Double Bass, Harp, Horn and String Quartets. Applications open from 29th August – 16th September.

BANFF INTERNATIONAL STRING QUARTET COMPETITION
The Banff International String Quartet Competition was established in 1983 and is a large celebration of chamber music in a festival format attracting enthusiastic capacity audiences. The competition is open to string quartets of all nationalities whose members are under the age of 35.  In addition to cash prizes, the laureate quartets are offered residency opportunities at The Banff Centre and, for the First Prize Laureates, a custom-designed three-year artistic and career development program. Online applications are accepted between the dates of 1st December and 1st March.

CHAMBER MUSIC IN YELLOW SPRINGS
The Chamber Music in Yellow Springs’ Annual Competition for Emerging Professional Ensembles is open to instrumental ensembles of 3 to 6 players. Both U.S and non-US residents are eligible. Ensemble members may be no more than 35 years old on the day of the Competition and the average age of ensemble members must not exceed 30 years.

INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER MUSIC COMPETITION

FISCHOFF NATIONAL CHAMBER MUSIC COMPETITION
Founded in 1973, the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition has grown to become the largest chamber music competition in the world.  The Fischoff Competition is scheduled for May 6 – 8 on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana, USA. Website: http://www.fischoff.org/

WIGMORE HALL INTERNATIONAL STRING QUARTET COMPETITION
Triennial competition  (formerly The London International String Quartet Competition) held under the auspices of Wigmore Hall since July 2010. Embracing the entire string quartet tradition, it requires contestants to perform Classical, Romantic and contemporary repertoire. Open to quartets with total age under 136.

INTERNATIONAL STRING QUARTET COMPETITION OF BORDEAUX
The association Quatuors Bordeaux organises a triennial Competition, which since 1999 has taken over the prestigious Evian contest. The competition is open to ensembles of all nationalities whose members were born after may 1, 1975. For more information contact:

VIENNA INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITION
The “Vienna International Music Competition” has been designed to promote musicians of all ages and disciplines, by offering them performances at Musikverein and Mozarthaus in Vienna, cash prizes, 5 music albums and many special awards.
