Support the Trust

Mark-Taylor

The Munster Trust,  a registered UK charity, receives no public funding. Its ability to help support young musicians since 1958 has been thanks in large part to the endowments bequeathed by Lady Munster during her lifetime and in her will. Through careful management, the value of the Trust’s portfolio of investments has appreciated considerably, and the Trust has been very grateful to receive a number of donations over the years, not least a generous gift from the Derek Butler Trust in 2013.  However, with rises in the cost of education and low investment returns, the Trust’s resources have come under increasing pressure.

To help the Trust continue its valuable work, please consider making a donation to the Trust or leaving a bequest in your will.  If you would like to make a donation specifically to the Neil Black Award, please go to Neil Black Award.

LEAVING A LEGACY TO THE TRUST

Leaving the Trust a gift in your will, whatever the size, is one way to help support the development of young artists in the future.  You can choose to leave either a specific sum of money or the residue of your estate.  Alternatively, you may have a musical instrument, the money from the sale of which you would like to donate to the Trust. For further information regarding leaving a gift to a Charity in your will please visit: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/individuals/giving/will.htm

Please consult your solicitor about leaving a bequest to the Trust in your will but the wording below may be helpful in drawing up a clause in a new will:

Different types of gift

1. Pecuniary (a specific sum of money)

“I give the sum of £……. to the Countess of Munster Musical Trust (registered charity number 1031783) for its general charitable purposes. I direct that the receipt of the Trust Secretary shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors and Trustees for the said gift.”

2. Residuary (the remainder of your estate after all gifts, debts and costs have been paid)

“I give the residue of my estate (out of which shall be paid my funeral and testamentary expenses debts and any legacies given by this Will or any Codicil) to the Countess of Munster Musical Trust (registered charity number 1031783) for its general charitable purposes. I direct that the receipt of the Trust Secretary shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors and Trustees for the said gift.”

3. Specific (a specific asset, for instance a musical instrument)

“I give my …………………… to the Countess of Munster Musical Trust (registered charity number 1031783) to be used for its general charitable purposes. I direct that the receipt of the Trust Secretary shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executors and Trustees for the said gift.”
