The Countess of Munster Musical Trust is immensely proud to share that two of our Trustees, Dame Sarah Connolly and Kathryn Stott, will receive The King’s Medal for Music at a ceremony at Windsor Castle on 23rd October 2026!
Dame Sarah, the celebrated English mezzo-soprano, was named as the recipient of The King’s Medal for Music 2023, announced in December 2023. Kathryn, the internationally acclaimed pianist and Professor of Piano at the Royal Northern College of Music, was named as the recipient for 2024, announced by Buckingham Palace in March 2026.
First established as The Queen’s Medal for Music in 2005 at the suggestion of the late Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, then Master of The Queen’s Music, the Medal is awarded annually to an outstanding individual or group of musicians who have had a major influence on the musical life of the nation.
The Trust is extremely fortunate to count such respected musicians among its Trustees. Alongside their fellow board members, Sarah and Kathryn serve the Trust with commitment and integrity, helping to ensure that the support we offer goes to the most deserving young musicians.
