THE ASSOCIATION OF ENGLISH SINGERS AND SPEAKERS (AESS)
The Concordia Prize Applicants should be under 30 on 29th June and either students of a UK or Irish conservatoire or pupils of a member of the AESS. Deadline ofr applications: May. 1st Prize=£1,000 and showcase performance in the Purcell Room.

BAYREUTH BURSARY COMPETITION
Travel bursary to Bayreuth Festival awarded annually to young Wagnerian singers of all voice types who are British and Commonwealth citizens, under age 35. Apply by 31st Oct. Prize: tickets for performances at Festival with travel and accommodation, half-recital in London.

CARDIFF SINGER OF THE WORLD COMPETITION
Biennial. Open to young singers of Opera and Lieder on threshold of professional careers. Contestants nominated by their broadcasting organisations. Must be over 18 with no max. age limit, but should be at start of career. Prize = £10,000 + London recital sponsored by BP + BBC engagement. Engagement with Welsh National Opera may be offered. 4 other finalists receive £2,000 each. Separate prize awarded to singer giving best Lieder performance at any stage of competition, worth £2,000. MAKING MUSIC
The Worshipful Company of Musicians in association with the National Federation of Music Societies holds an annual award to give young musicians valuable performing experience at the start of their professional careers. MBF MUSIC EDUCATION AWARDS
Dick Maidment Scholarships - 2 scholarships of £5,000 each available for voice students. They will be awarded to the most outstanding vocal candidates heard through the MBF Music Education Awards auditions, in memory of Dick Maidment a barrister with a love of opera and singing.
Sybil Tutton Awards - Open to British/Irish students or those resident in UK for at least 3 years, under age 30, intending to take a full-time postgraduate course specifically in advanced opera studies. Awards of up to £5,000. Closing date May.
