    Students should consult literature produced by the individual funding organisations for complete and up-to-date information & for relevant application forms.

BELMONT TRUST MUSIC AWARDS
Annual award to string quartets (aggregate age 120). Must be recommended by teacher/coach and have been performing together for at least 1 year. Preference given to quartets applying to attend Chilingirian Quartet Course at West Dean College, Chichester, which offers coaching and masterclasses for string ensembles.

BRISTOL MILLENNIUM CHAMBER MUSIC COMPETITION
Open to string quartets and piano trios with ages 16-24. Date: April.

HATTORI FOUNDATION FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS
Aim to encourage and assist exceptionally talented chamber ensembles who are British Nationals or Foreign Nationals normally resident in the UK or Foreign Nationals who are studying full-time in the UK.
Ensembles: with an average age not exceeding 27 who have worked together for a minimum of 12 months and have performed in public prior to the auditions can apply for assistance in one of the following ways:
(a) intensive private study in the UK or abroad;
(b) masterclasses;
(c) a living allowance and travel expenses in connection with a post-graduate course (course fees are not funded);
(d) a living allowance in the UK to reduce the need for work unrelated to performance;
(e) financial assistance (sponsorship) in connection with public performances;
(f) travelling expenses in order to enter international competitions.

EARLY MUSIC NETWORK
International Young Artists’ Competition – Biennial. Apply by 1st Dec. Open to vocal and instrumental ensembles (min. 3 persons) aged 17-30 (35 singers), specialising in repertoire from Middle Ages to 19th century and who use the playing techniques and stylistic conventions of early music. Held in association with York Early Music Festival. No entry fee.

LONDON INTERNATIONAL STRING QUARTET COMPETITION
The Competition is open to all nationalities provided the age of each musician in the quartet is under 35 years on 5th April 2009. PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA
Martin Musical Scholarship Fund – (£30,000 - various awards - offered to all applicants) Assists exceptional musical talent with specialist and advanced study and helps bridge the gap between study and professional status. Awards for tuition fees and/or maintenance while studying in UK or Europe. Preference given to UK citizens under age 25. Much younger students of outstanding ability considered, to meet fees or travel expenses in attending junior conservatoires. Support not given to organists, singers, conductors, composers, academic students, piano accompanists or those on jazz courses. Entry fee. See Website for details.

RNCM BROADWOOD PIANO TRIO COMPETITION
For trios with combined age under 81 who are or have been studying at a conservatoire within last 2 years. 1st prize = £6,000 + recitals. Closing date 31st May.

THE TUNNELL TRUST
Awards in form of financially rewarding series of concerts in Scotland, offering invaluable experience to young musicians at outset of careers. Open to British-based young professional chamber ensembles of not more than 8 players, whose individual members are 27 or under. Closing date June; auditions in London in Oct./Nov. the Trust also runs an annual residential course for established chamber groups at Strathgarry, Perthshire which is by invitation only following the auditions.
